Losing some of your sight or hearing changes how you do everyday things, not whether you can do them. Our sensory impairment support provides practical, respectful help at home and in the community, so adults stay independent, confident and connected.

Mission Healthcare supports adults across Dartford and north Kent who are living with sight loss, hearing loss or both, whether from birth or acquired later through conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy or age-related hearing loss. Support can range from a few visits a week to live-in care, and can be combined with personal care or companionship care.

We follow the Accessible Information Standard, so we will ask how you want us to communicate with you and record it in your care plan. See our Accessible Information page for more. You decide how and when your support is provided, and we build your care plan around your routines, goals and preferences. Our service is overseen by a UK-qualified doctor and a registered nurse.

Discuss Your Support

Talk to our friendly Dartford team about sensory impairment support. We will listen to what you need and build support around your life.

Support on your terms

Good sensory support is about enabling, not taking over. Our carers say who they are when they arrive, describe what they are doing, and ask before moving anything. We learn the way you like your home arranged, and support you to do as much for yourself as you want to.

Equipment, adaptations and your home

The right equipment and home adaptations can make daily life easier and safer. Kent County Council can help with equipment and changes to your home, such as good lighting, contrast marking, talking clocks or amplified phones, and you may be able to get a Disabled Facilities Grant from your local council towards larger adaptations. Kent County Council also keeps a register of people with sight or hearing loss, which can help you get the right support. Our carers follow advice from your sensory team on using equipment safely.

How to arrange sensory impairment support in Dartford

1. Get in touch. Call us on +44 7470 367 720 or send us a message. We will talk through the support you are looking for and answer any questions.

Support for families and carers

Sensory loss affects the whole household. We can provide respite care so family members who help with care can take a break, and we are happy to work alongside rehabilitation officers, sensory teams or other support already in place.

Funding sensory impairment support

Support is often funded by Kent County Council following a free care needs assessment, and many people use direct payments to choose their own provider. You may be eligible for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) if you are 16 or over and under State Pension age, and people with mainly health-related needs may qualify for NHS continuing healthcare. Care can also be paid for privately, and we will give you a clear, no-obligation quote. We provide sensory impairment support in Dartford, Greenhithe, Wilmington, Longfield, Swanley, Crayford, Bexley, Bexleyheath, Erith, Sidcup, Gravesend and Northfleet.
