Mission Healthcare is a nurse-led, CQC-registered home care provider based in Dartford, supporting families across north Kent. Our service is led by a UK-qualified doctor and a registered nurse, who write the care plans and support our carers day to day. Our carers work across all of our services, from short visits to live-in care and 24/7 care, alongside personal care, specialist care or end of life care.

We are a small enough team that you will not be a number on a rota. You will know the people you visit, and we will know you. We are always glad to hear from experienced carers, and equally glad to hear from people coming to care for the first time from retail, hospitality, warehousing or raising a family, all of which build exactly the qualities this work needs.

What the job actually involves

A typical visit might involve helping someone get up, washed and dressed, preparing a meal, prompting medication, a bit of light housework, and often just sitting and talking for a few minutes. Some visits are half an hour, some are longer, and live-in work is a different pattern again. What every visit has in common is that you record what you did and flag anything that has changed. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission, and you can read our inspection reports on the CQC website.

Do you need experience or qualifications?

No. Most of our best carers started with none. What you do need is patience, a genuine warmth towards older people, reliability, and the sense to speak up when something is not right. Everything else we teach you. You will need the right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS check, which we arrange and pay for. A driving licence and your own car are helpful for community visits and mean we can offer you more work, but they are not essential for every role.

4. Training and your first shifts. Paid induction and shadowing with an experienced carer before you take your own visits.

Training and support once you start

Nobody is sent out on their own until they are ready. Induction covers safeguarding, moving and handling, medication, infection control, food hygiene and first aid, and you shadow an experienced carer until you feel confident. After that we support you through the Care Certificate and, if you want it, further qualifications. Our clinical leads are available for advice during visits, and supervision is regular rather than something that happens once a year. Most of our carers work in home care and across our other services.

Pay, hours and the areas we cover

Pay is discussed openly at interview and depends on the role, the hours and whether you drive; we pay for travel time between visits and mileage, and we do not run our rates below the Homecare Association minimum price, because carers are the first people a low rate hurts. We have full-time, part-time, evening, weekend and live-in roles, and we will build a rota around your availability where we can. Every carer gets an enhanced DBS check, which we arrange and pay for, and works towards the Care Certificate. We recruit for roles in Dartford, Greenhithe, Wilmington, Longfield, Swanley, Crayford, Bexley, Bexleyheath, Erith, Sidcup, Gravesend and Northfleet.

Yes. We recruit for character and train for skill. If you are reliable, kind and willing to learn, we will teach you the rest, and you will be paid for your induction and shadowing.
It helps, and it means we can offer you more hours across a wider area, but it is not essential for every role. Tell us what transport you have and we will be straight with you about what we can offer.
